Gracie is Lost

June 15, 2007

Gracie slipped out the back door around midnight and we haven't seen her since. She has never been allowed off-leash, has a brain the size of a walnut, and is an all-around bad candidate for being lost in the woods of Maine.

Fortunately she's microchipped.

Unfortunately she's not wearing tags. I recently bought her a new, pink collar and hadn't switched them over yet. Please call me an idiot in the comments. And if we run into each other in town, slug me in the gut. I deserve it.

I've been up all night searching and I'm worried sick. I've also experienced brief bouts of hysteria.

Please keep your fingers, toes, and paws crossed that she makes it home safely.

Thanks,

Amy

Oh Amy.. my heart lurched for you. Think positive.. daylight is a better time to find her and for her to find her way back home. Sending best thoughts to you folks and Gracie. She'll be back and when she is, give her a scratch on the head for me.

How horrible! I don't have a dog anymore, but when I did I can't even imagine what I would have done if she went missing. I sincerely hope you can find her soon, and agree with Hilary that hopefully the daylight will help. Please keep us posted!

Oh Amy,
That's awful. I am a wreck for you.
Have you called all the local vets/shelters/dog catcher?
Please update when you can.

I was going to share in everyone's sadness and horror but it sounds like she's home and your heart can start beating again. Congrats! I hope she (and you) are none for the worse.
