Happy Friday

May 8, 2009 (Happy Birthday, Dad!)

Happy Friday everyone! I don't know about you, but for me, this has been one of the longest weeks ever. From our annual meeting at work, to a super emotional hearing at the Statehouse, to my greyhound letting her bladder loose in the entryway of my office building, I'm straight up done.

Yesterday afternoon, when James and I took Gracie for a walk, he ran twenty paces ahead of me proclaiming, "My Mom es in a bad move! My Mom es in a bad move!" to the entire neighborhood. I was like, "It's MOOD James! With a D at the end!" as I casually waved to our golden-aged neighbor folk.

Thankfully, thankfully, Jared and I have a date tonight. My friend Jennifer--bless her glowing and generous soul-- is watching James, while Jared and I drive to the big city to redeem our free grilled chicken meal coupons from KFC.

FUN FACT: Did you know that the biscuits from KFC radiate glimmering beams of hope? And the cole slaw improves overall mental health? Really, it's true.

If we're up for it, we'll probably cap off the meal with some primo people watching at the local WalMart. I'm not lying, I honestly can't wait--my husband Jared Lawson is so much fun to bum around with!

A perfect date, with my perfect friend, for the perfect price--$FREE.

And now I'm just curious--what do you usually like to do with your Friday night?

Happy weekend, everyone!!!

Well, when we don't have a sitter we like to put the boys in bed early, break open a bottle of wine and catch up on all our TV shows. Romantic, no?

We go to Costco and fill up on all the free samples.

There's nothing like cuddling up next to one you love and watching "Battle Butter" on Iron Chef America with a box of Girl Scout Cookies that have been hidden deep in the freezer. WalMart people watching is a fun date, but it's even funner at 3:00 am.

Today is my birthday too! Tell your dad that only cool people are born on this day!

We usually don't do anything special on Fridays...same old, same old...

But, tonight, I'm having margaritas!

Kari
Have fun on your date.

No sitters here. We fix the kids frozen pizza and popcorn, they get their movie and them find somewhere in the house to "camp out." Then we get our movie and maybe even a glass of wine. Unless Dad is out of the country again...that means like tonight, one movie and everyone in bed early.

I hate to think I'm ruining your plans, but you better check out this article before you head to KFC:

I love date night... your date nights sound about like ours. Wild and crazy, I tell ya!

You might want to leave your high hopes for a free KFC meal at home...they are OUT of chicken. I know...outlandish!

So make some back up plans so that we don't read about a crazy Maine chick killing her husband in a closed KFC parking lot because there was no chicken to be had...

Tonight I am hoping to go on a trail run with my husband up Provo Canyon. That sounds pretty perfect to me right about now.

Usually dinner at Macaroni Grill, and a movie suffice. :)

Here is a free pulled pork slider if you have a White Castle in your area....

I enjoyed my free KFC the first day of the coupon and boy am I glad. I got TWO meals for FREE (no tax even) and it was tasty. I'm sorry you're not getting yours.

I'm late to the party, but CONGRATS!!

I'm watching Ocean's Eleven. On TBS, so it's like 3 hours long.

As a side note, for extra income, have you considered hiring out James as a mood herald? I don't know how many times nasty exchanges could be avoided if it was known that someone was in a bad move.

I think my plans for Friday evolved into something completely different. All I can say is that I ended up between two guys who like me, watching a movie until all hours of the morning and one of them cuddled with me, ruining chances with the other. Crazy.

My teenager just got hired at the KFC.

Haha, our Friday night was getting groceries and having dinner at Arby's which was celebrating its 25th anniversary with prices from 1984! Not free but pretty darn cheap for an Arby's Melt!

And my hubby (yes, I know it says "Brent" its his google account, I'm just lazy) did something that would make you laugh!

Last night in bed, I stuck my cold feet on him and he was having a fit. So when he said he had to pee, I knew something was up. Yup, he went down and RUBBED BAGS OF FROZEN VEGGIES on his feet and then tried to get me back with his icy feet. His feet were still warm compared to my legs! So ha! But it was so funny, I couldn't stop laughing!!
