Christmas Eve 2007
Mom: Hey girls! Come and see what I bought for your husbands!
Amy & Katy: Okay, Mom.
Mom: I'll show you on the computer. I bought them matching gifts from Dick's Sporting goods.
Amy & Katy: Cool.
[the three ladies gather around the computer as Mom types the web address]
Mom: It's right here at w w w dot dicks dot com.
Amy: Oh my word Mom, I don't think that's the right address!
It wasn't the right address.

The minute I read "Dicks Sporting Goods" I knew where this was going. I've done the same thing! Scary!
My husband and brother-in-law would be SO surprised to get something from my mother from that site :) Ha!
Whoa mama is right! LOL!
I have done the same thing!! However not in front of my mother, I would be mortified...hope you fared better. Now that's a Xmas memory to share with James when he gets older, hee hee.
Happy Holidays.
¡Feliz Navidad! Glad to know you are home. Post a picture of the matching masculine gifts, will ya?
Of course I had to go and see what all the fuss was about.... Oh my goodness! LOL

You never know what will get someone to delurk and comment...For me, this was it. Mostly because I just had to ask: What DID she get them?
What man doesn't need a gift from there?
I freaked when my 6 year old son kept asking to go to "naughty".com. I finally figured out he was saying "noddy".com.
Thanks Amy, I have been looking for some new stuff.

amy lawson, cyberfriend, i've been out of commission the last 3 or so weeks and have spent the last few minutes catching up on you... and i HAD really good excuses for neglecting everything and everyone until i discovered that you ran your marathon [congrats!! you did AWESOME!!!], had Jared's graduation, MOVED, and did the whole Christmas thing and still managed to blog about it. i am officially a sucky blogger. thank you for still letting me read your hilarious stories. [is it even possible to block a reader? sometimes that would be nice...]
ROFL!! I'm so glad you're back!
Hahaha. Many years ago I Googled on Victoria while trying to find the web site for Victoria Magazine - and woohoo, what a shocker that was. I've never closed a site so fast.
clarification time!! I was not ordering from there.I knew the second I neglected to type sporting goods dot com, I was in for a surprise! why can't it be called Richard's Sporting Goods? There goes my good grandma image.
P. S. Amy, I put another plug for your blog out on my two blogs - my joint media blog and my personal blog. Hope you get some more readers!
Our grocery store is Dicks Market, and I have a been to the exact same site a couple times when I've mistyped too!
wow ~ what a progressive mother you have!!
(now I'm going to go wipe my eye make up off my chin...where it ran after I laughed so hard I cried)

ha ha ha aha ha ha ha ha
Ha ha. Poor mom- must have been so embarassed.
That has happened at work a few times. While doing research for things, you could probably imagine all the weird things one might encounter.
Sometimes you have to learn the hard way not to enter the address directly. Betcha Mom doesn't make that same mistake again. In the meantime, it makes for a heartwarming family Christmas story.
um, I've done that. In fact, it's a favorite pasttime of my hubby's to tell people about when I did that.
Lol. That is too funny!
