Whoa Mama!

Christmas Eve 2007

Mom: Hey girls! Come and see what I bought for your husbands!

Amy & Katy: Okay, Mom.

Mom: I'll show you on the computer. I bought them matching gifts from Dick's Sporting goods.

Amy & Katy: Cool.

[the three ladies gather around the computer as Mom types the web address]

Mom: It's right here at w w w dot dicks dot com.

Amy: Oh my word Mom, I don't think that's the right address!

It wasn't the right address.

The minute I read "Dicks Sporting Goods" I knew where this was going. I've done the same thing! Scary!

You never know what will get someone to delurk and comment...For me, this was it. Mostly because I just had to ask: What DID she get them?

What man doesn't need a gift from there?

I freaked when my 6 year old son kept asking to go to "naughty".com. I finally figured out he was saying "noddy".com.

amy lawson, cyberfriend, i've been out of commission the last 3 or so weeks and have spent the last few minutes catching up on you... and i HAD really good excuses for neglecting everything and everyone until i discovered that you ran your marathon [congrats!! you did AWESOME!!!], had Jared's graduation, MOVED, and did the whole Christmas thing and still managed to blog about it. i am officially a sucky blogger. thank you for still letting me read your hilarious stories. [is it even possible to block a reader? sometimes that would be nice...]

Hahaha. Many years ago I Googled on Victoria while trying to find the web site for Victoria Magazine - and woohoo, what a shocker that was. I've never closed a site so fast.

Ha ha. Poor mom- must have been so embarassed.

That has happened at work a few times. While doing research for things, you could probably imagine all the weird things one might encounter.

Sometimes you have to learn the hard way not to enter the address directly. Betcha Mom doesn't make that same mistake again. In the meantime, it makes for a heartwarming family Christmas story.

um, I've done that. In fact, it's a favorite pasttime of my hubby's to tell people about when I did that.
