So remember that new car? The one we were supposed to pick up last night, pack with six full-grown adults, and use to cruise comfortably into the sunset? The one with the leather seats? The one the iPod jack? The one that would do wonders for my street credit? The one that was a screamin' deal?

Yeah. Never mind.

NEVER! MIND!

The deal fell flat, and as usual, I'll graciously provide you with a handful of sketchy details. You know--just enough so you feel like you know me, but not enough for you to really understand my personal and confidential biznitch.

And no, it wasn't because we couldn't get a loan. Actually, if you must know, I have a credit score that's over 800 and and an income that's far beyond your wildest dream.

Fine. One of those claims is true.

The bottom line is this: We chickened out. My junk drawer calculator decided that we couldn't technically afford the car, and obviously, the Blazer still has a heck of a lot of life left in her.

So, for the second time in five days, loan docs were torn and crying ensued.

This life of mine? So freaking glamorous.

Aww, that sucks. I hate getting my hopes up for something and having it not work out.

Long live the Blazer!

Any consolation...Chrysler is filing for bankruptcy right now and you're not.

Long live the Blazer, and my Malibu :) I hope my car lives eternally- I don't know how we'll afford a car payment anytime soon.

throw out that calculator, it brings you bad news! :) Good for you for making a hard-wise choice.

Now you can work on your food storage. ;)

Face it. It's just not in our DNA to let go of a car until truly self-destructs. So, your wheel fell of, that's a minor inconvenience. But who else gets to roll around town with a cassette player? Now that's street cred!

When we went to buy a car, they did turn us down for the loan. I kept saying "Look! Here's my money...we can pay for it...just let me buy this car!!!" They said no. I still don't have a new car. PS> It wasn't bad credit, it was the no credit history thing.

smart, trust me sooo smart! I drive a 96 mazda i bought from a former hippi. Its teal and sports some rad stickers about saving tibet, and alot of dents... but I don't have a car payment I can't afford right now. Right on for common sense, you rock!

I was wondering if I would recognize your blog without Blazer stories.......

It sucks to be responsible.

I think you loose even more 'street cred' when you say 'street credit'. Just sayin'.

That wasn't your new car ... your new car is still out there waiting for you to discover it and negotiate its release from a hopefully not-too-sleazy sales person.

HA. I'm in the same boat... or should I say same car? I have a 13 year old VW. The panels are falling off the sides, pieces break off the inside, but it still runs and it's been paid off for about 8 years. I can get a new car (great credit) but it jsut seems frivolous, right? Let's jsut drive these babies until they can't drive no mo.
